The Number 12

Number 12 is the second number of level 4 of spirit manifestation. The first number of this level is number 11 for which we said that its energy is similar to going in the open space for the first time without a space suit. However, the person of the number 11 is totally unprepared to experience the direct vibrations of the spiritual world, since the person’s own vibrations are still very low and therefore this kind of experience is accompanied with shock, turmoil, and trauma. By adding 1, we arrive at the number 12, which is much more harmonious then 11. To start with, the number 12 can be divided by 3. As the key word for number 3 is harmony (at least outwardly), this implies that the number 12 will also contain within itself certain harmony. However, because we are dealing with the level 4 of spirit manifestation, this is a different kind of harmony, as it is connected with the cosmos. In other words, the number 12 implies some kind of a cosmic harmony.

The number 12 is the first number of the level 4 of spirit manifestation, which connects us with the cosmic karma. This is something that is experienced directly, and not in a roundabout way as it was with the number 11. On the level of the number 11, the individual is still largely unaware of his personal karma. He also does not know how his karma is connected with the cosmic karma of humanity as a whole. Since the number 11 goes out in the open space for the first time, the physical bodies of such individuals are largely unprepared to undertake the strong spiritual vibrations impacting them and the powerful influences coming from spiritual beings that reside very high in the spiritual hierarchy. For this reason, they experience the events in their life as shocks, traumas, and turmoil. On the level of the number 12, however, things get leveled out. Life is experienced (at least outwardly) as harmonious (12 is divisible by 3) and the individual feels his or her connection with the global plan for humanity and the cosmic karma.

On a low level, the persons of the number 12 are consumers. They fit very well in the material reality and feel comfortably there. They feel that all troubles and problems in the world are needed for some reason. These people cannot tell what the reason is, but feel instinctively that from a higher perspective all human suffering is justified, as it somehow helps people in their spiritual growth and evolution. This belief is very beneficial for the people of the number 12, since they are gaining great strength from such convictions. Such life philosophy helps these people to get by much more easily in life and get protection where and when they need it. They personally will rarely experience traumatic life, in the fashion of the people belonging to the number 11. Rather they are more or less “lucky”, in this respect that although they will encounter one problem or another in their lives (who doesn’t?), their problems are somehow fitted into the global karma of humanity. For this reason, these problems can be resolved with some simple steps, provided that they have enough willpower and willingness to overcome the problem. For example, the problem of the person of the number 12 could be a broken relationship, or a lack of satisfaction at the current job, or not having enough money to afford a holiday. At the same time, the problems of the person of the number 11 range from total unacceptance by society, mental disorders, or in some extreme cases forceful isolation in mental hospitals. It is easy to see the difference in the nature of the problems here. The problems of the number 12 can be solved with a relative simplicity, the problems of the number 11 are in most cases impossible to solve on the material plane.

However, the task of the people of the number 12 is a willing and conscious cooperation with the spiritual worlds in working together in order to “soften out” the cosmic karma. Thus, on a medium level, the people of the number 12 have the inner feeling of being connected with the cosmic karma and getting help from the spiritual worlds. The people on this level may or may not be aware that they are also contributing to the negating of the bad cosmic karma, in other words that they are also active participants in the huge cosmic process. In any case, the sense of connectedness with the cosmic karma is big enough by itself to give a meaning to the lives of such people. This connectedness and purpose in life are many times stronger and more meaningful, than the expression of religious faith typical for the number 10. The man of the number 10 is a doubter, experiencing the spiritual world for the first time; the man of the number 12 experience the spiritual reality directly, therefore there could be no doubts about its existence whatsoever. The man of the number 10 lacks self-confidence and tends to slide back to the formal religious expression of the number 9, where he feels comfortable, at least outwardly. The man of the number 12 feels and collaborates with the spiritual world more or less consciously, thus he feels and sees the immediate results of this collaboration in the material life. The man of the number 12 is confident, because he knows that collaboration with the spiritual world “works.” The last thing that he would like to do is to slide back from his comfortable position back to the energy of the number 11 of total social unacceptance. If nothing else, he will strive to climb up to the number 13, which is alluring him with vast matter-of-fact achievements on the material plane (although this might be a lie, but on the level of the number 12 there is no way to know that).

On a medium level, the people of the number 12 are characterized by the ability to implement harmoniously some very high spiritual ideal into the material reality. In such a way the high spiritual ideal leads the matter (symbolized by the level 4 of spirit manifestation) to reach a higher level of evolution and greater spirituality, however, the person of the number 12 is by all means not forced to do so. He is sort of speak constantly “invited” to participate, but if he is unwilling to do so, he is free to skid down to the lower lever of this number manifestation. However, once the person willingly decides to participate in the cosmic plan, opportunities are provided all the time and the level of lucky coincidences leading towards the completion of a certain goal become suspiciously high. In such a way, the individual is being gradually prepared to enter the high levels of manifestations of this number.

On a very high level, the person of the number 12 is able to withstand with easy the intensity of very high vibrations, thus willingly cooperating and collaborating with the spiritual world on variety of earthly problems, which ultimately leads to the minimizing of their negative karma and impact on the people. However, in order to be able to do this, the person in question should consciously get out of the limits, accepted as common ethics and norms by the society and be willing to regard and work with the above mentioned issues not from an earth perspective, but from a cosmic perspective. In other words, the person of the number 12 is asked the same, what the person of the number 11 is asked for, with two very important differences which are:

• Firstly the person should be able to withstand the high level of spiritual energy that is bestowed upon him or her and
• Secondly, the person is willing to participate consciously and willingly in the earth matters, however, not from an earthly but from a cosmic perspective.

• Needless to say, such person should be to a fair degree free from selfishness and should be willing to be self-sacrificed for the common good if the need will be. However, on the level of the number 12 this process is much smoother, since the inner understanding and conviction of the benevolence of all earth events, makes the process harmonious, easy, and almost painless.

Some of the manifestations of the number 12 on the earthly plane are the arts, especially the music, since there are 12 major half-tones. It is obvious that music is very well implemented on the earthly plane, however, it originates definitely not from this world! No great composer ever wrote a single piece of music, without a divine inspiration. Another obvious manifestation of the number 12 is astrology. There are 12 signs of the Zodiac and 12 astrological houses, each one pertaining to one of the astrological signs. The 12 signs of the Zodiac can be regarded as the cosmic backdrop in front of which the planet of the Solar system perform their great show, and the 12 astrological houses are the areas of life, where the cosmic energies of the signs will be implemented in the earthly life, according to the planets in it. In this respect, one can say that the number 12 is revealed on earth more like an ideal concept. This ideal concept is seeking its way to be fully implemented into some practical, down-to-earth solution of the earthly problems, but it is nevertheless not fully achieving this. Its first manifestation (the music) is filling up the human soul with a harmony of a very high spiritual order and its second one (the astrology) is revealing to humans that their destiny is just a fragment of the cosmic evolution.

The number 12 can be divided into the numbers 2, 3, 4, and 6. This indicates that the energies of all these numbers are contained into the number 12 itself. This is best illustrated through the division of the 12 signs of the Zodiac in these respective numbers. If we divide 12 by 6, the result is 2. In such way, we get six pairs of two signs each. These are called masculine and feminine signs of the zodiac. They alternate in order, starting from Aries (masculine), Taurus (feminine), Gemini (masculine), Cancer (feminine) and so on. It is important to emphasise here that masculine and feminine does not indicate that someone born under certain sign is a man or a woman in the strict sense of the word, but it rather indicates that the masculine signs are more extrovert, while the feminine ones are more introvert. Sometimes they are called positive and negative respectively. In the Age of Aquarius in which we happen to live today (although not fully just yet), the boundaries between masculinity and femininity are becoming extensively blurred, but in the ancient astrological texts masculinity is understood as somebody extrovert, active, being in charge and domineering, while femininity is understood as somebody who is introvert, passive, receptive, intuitive and imaginative. In this way, we see that the polarity and opposition typical for the number 2 represents itself also in the number 12 (and indeed in any other number that can be divided by 2, i.e. any even number). However, in the number 2, the opposition is simple, (such as good and bad, day and night, hot and cold), while in the number 12 we have six pairs of opposing signs.

Another way to look at these six oppositions is dividing the circle into 12 equal parts to form the 12 signs of the Zodiac and in such way, we see that each one of the signs of the Zodiac has its opposing sign on the other side of the wheel. Thus, the 12 signs of the Zodiac form six pairs of opposing each other signs. For example, Aries (the sign who has the reputation of being selfish and being “me first” attitude) is exactly in opposition to the sign of Libra, which is all about relationships, partnerships and cooperation. In such way, Aries learns from Libra how to be more cooperative and considerate of the other person. At the same time however, Libra also learns from its opposing sign how to be more independent and stand on its own two feet, without the constant need to be in a partnership. Taurus and Scorpio are also in an opposition to each other. The passionate and eruptive Scorpio is learning from Taurus how to be more patient and down-to-earth. The phlegmatic and difficult to move Taurus is learning from Scorpio how to be more agile and lively to say at least. This is applying for all the other pairs of signs.

Dividing the number 12 by 4 we get 3, in other words the result is four groups of three signs each. These groups are the four elements, which can be regarded as the four major building blocks on earth – fire, earth, air and water. Starting from the first sign of the Zodiac Aries (fire), they repeat themselves always in the same order: Taurus (earth), Gemini (air), Cancer (water), Leo (fire again) and so on. The fact that the number 12 can be divided into 4 indicates an ability to implement a stable structure into the material reality, (at least in its initial stage), since the number 4 represents initial manifestation of matter, and primitive, imperfect, but nevertheless very stable material form. Both 8 and 12 can be divided by 4, however, the difference is the result: 8 divides by 4 with a result of 2 implying inner conflict and contradictions, while 12 divides by 4 with a result of 3, indicting that the implemented material structure is harmonious.

12 can also be divided by 3 with the result of 4. In this case, we get three groups of four signs each. These groups are called quadruplicates. These are Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable. They change in the same order, starting from Aries (cardinal), Taurus (fixed), Gemini (mutable), Cancer (cardinal), Leo (fixed), Virgo (mutable) and so on. In general, cardinal signs are known to be outgoing, the fixed signs have a reputation of being inflexible, and the mutable signs are adaptable. We see that by dividing the 12 signs of the Zodiac into 3 parts we get a perfectly harmonious order, which is typical for the number 3 and for any number, divisible by 3. So far, we know three numbers that are divisible by 3; these are 6, 9, and 12. There is a huge difference between them and the difference comes primarily from the result of the division. 6 (3 X 2) implies inner confrontation, 9 (3 X 3) is concerned with outer spirituality and formal harmony, while 12 (3 X 4) is the initial implementation in the material reality (4) of the cosmic harmony (3).

Finally, 12 can be divided by 2 with a result of 6. If we take the axis Ascendant – Descendant, all signs of the Zodiac can be divided into 6 signs that will be located above this line and 6 signs that will be below this line. The ones below are more introvert and aiming at self-improvement and self-development, while the signs above will be more extrovert and interested in dealing with others, and working as a team. If we use the equal house system and take the other important axis in astrology – the one of MC-IC the wheel again will be divided into two equal parts: six signs will be on the left hand side and six will be on the right hand side. The group of signs on the left-hand side will have a bearing on the feminine part of the individual, the group of signs on the right hand side will be indicative of  the same individual’s respective masculine part. Any individual comprises some masculine and some feminine energy. Too many planets on the left will indicate a person who is more passive and receptive, too many on the right hand side will indicate a person who takes a lot of assertive (although maybe not thoroughly thought) action.

The number 12 is useful to illustrate the idea of division of numbers, since we can clearly see that every time, when a number can be divided by another, this indicates that the energy of the smaller number is contained within the larger one, but on a higher level. To have a glimpse on what that energy represents we have to look at the result of the division. The number 12 is a symbol of a harmony of a very high order. It is obvious that the origins of this harmony cannot be found on earth, and that we can only find them on a very high spiritual level. However, this is exactly the predicament of the number 12: that it cannot solve entirely the earth problems. The number 12 is designed as an initial implementation of the cosmic harmony on earth, not as an ultimate tool in solving the earth problems in a practical and down to earth manner. The fact that 12 can be divided by 2 indicates that there are some inherent problems in this number and for this reason, there is no genuine collaboration between the two planes represented as 6 + 6. These problems will become much more apparent later on the level of the number 13. On the level of the number 12, however, these problems are experienced chiefly as not an adequate connection between the person on earth and his or her respective cosmic programs.

12 = 11 + 1 Increasing its vibration level the crude innovator (11) becomes able to withstand the spiritual energy levels and thus turns his life from disharmonious (11) to harmonious (12).
